Claiming New Jersey Cash Pop Prizes

Find out how to claim Cash Pop prizes in New Jersey, whether you win up to $600 or a larger amount. It is easy to get your hands on your money regardless of how much you win, but the method for claiming does differ.

The claim period always remains the same. You have one year from the date of a drawing in which to come forward and submit your claim. Once this deadline has passed, your ticket is no longer valid and the prize will be regarded as unclaimed or expired.

Prizes Under $600

The easiest way to claim a prize of up to $599.99 is to visit a New Jersey Lottery retailer. There are thousands of locations in the Garden State where you can take a winning ticket for validation and receive your prize in cash instantly.

Another option is to claim your prize by mail. You just need to sign the back of your winning ticket and send it in to the following address:

New Jersey Lottery
Attn: Validations
P.O. Box 041
Trenton, NJ 08625-0041

Prizes of $600 or More

If you win $600 or more, you’ll need to complete a claim form to receive your prize. These are available from any NJ Lottery retailer, or at the New Jersey Lottery headquarters in Trenton. You can then mail in your claim form, alongside your signed winning ticket, to the address shown above. It takes four to six weeks for prizes to be processed, then a check will be sent out to you.

Alternatively, you can drop off your claim form and winning ticket in person at the Trenton site. You’ll need to come between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM Monday to Friday, and use the secure drop box. The address is shown below:

Lawrence Park Complex
1333 Brunswick Avenue Circle
Trenton, NJ 08648

The prizes available in Cash Pop fall below the threshold for tax requirements, so you do not have to worry about any deductions. However, you will need to report winnings on your Form W-2G.

Lost and Damaged Tickets

If you have a damaged ticket, you can file a claim by mail or drop box. You should include a note to explain what has happened and the New Jersey Lottery will investigate at its own discretion. If you lose a ticket, however, you won’t be able to claim any prizes it might have been due. Your only hope would be that someone finds your ticket and hands it in, which is why you should always make sure to sign the back of it.
